The Cosmos - #MoreIndianThanYouThink

As all other children growing up in the eighties and nineties in India, I once believed the First world was definitely more fascinating than India ever could be.There was a huge fascination for everything American or European, called colloquially as "imported", be it clothes, music or food or literature. In Hindi there is a saying for it too " Ghar ki Murgi daal Barabar" ( We presume the homemade chicken curry to be no better than lentil soup."

As Internet burst the hard boundaries of what was desi and what was "foreign" , and we grew into a generation riding high on 50 years of India's independence and much more I gradually began to look at the world differently, the world as #MoreIndianThanYouThink
  • All the cool stuff like Yoga, Eco-feminism and Mytho-fiction are Indian. We had Patanjali (not the brand but the sage) and the Chipko movement long before there were Yoga Studios and silent protests to save the trees across the world.

  • All the neo-diets have something to do with rustic Indian spices and ways of cooking, for every donut was maybe an Idli in its previous birth or long before it won accolades as Aloe Vera it was plain old GwarPaatha in traditional kicthen gardens.

  • While the world, countries and families remain divided in the name of Soccer clubs and Premier Leagues we had the good old Cricket (bat-ball) to unite us.

  • Long before there was Breaking News, Viral videos and trolls we had post-birds (pigeons delivering love letters, Live Telecast of Mahabharta war via Sanjay to Dhritrashtra and Narada the penultimate Troll !!

So basically whatever progress humankind has made in whatever direction, there is always a way to trace it back to its Indian roots, and no don't be mistaken this isn't about taking undue credit but just a unique way to view the world - very Indian, very us. ( All pun intended)
If we were just a #Twitter handle or an #Instagram account The cosmos would Follow us :P
Have you chanced upon the celebration of India’s growing global influence in #Lufthansa TV commercial along with the hashtag #MoreIndianThanYouThink.

What is being perceived as a strategy to defeat India is in itself India's biggest victory. The world today and has always been is #MoreIndianThanYouThink.
