Tea Musings

She gazes into
the fawn haze
of her tea cup

He gazes into

the amber pools

of her eyes

Life strangulates love
using the leash of time

At the bottom
of a cold cup
A dream remains
Undissolved
Untasted !

I am a Banzai skydiver poet

I am a Banzai skydiver poet

I have thrown out the parachute first

and now in a free fall

towards

myself

poem by poem

I dismantle wisdom

I remove all the safety gear

tradition,culture hierarchy

one by one

And I dive

into the free unknown

unprotected, alone

Nude.

Short Poems for Inspirational Writers - A To Z Challenge 2017 (Theme Reveal)

HAT-TRICK CHANCE as they say in cricketing terminology. This is my third consecutive year at the A to Z Challenge.

A to Z Challenge 2015 my maiden challenge was dedicated to the memory of my late father, who had passed away a few days before the challenge. All the posts their , very special to me personally and found an overwhelming connect with readers far and wide, still do.

A to Z Challenge 2016 happened when I was struggling with mental health issues and a really difficult personal time, so I chose the theme life lessons , to share what I had learned and find new insights.

2017 has started with laurels for me as a blogger. This blog has received the ORANGE FLOWER AWARDS for POETRY and my other blog for HINDI WRITING.

So this year I dedicate my A to Z Challenge 2017 to all those who have inspired me with their writings and hence I will write

SHORT POEMS FOR INSPIRATIONAL WRITERS

I will be picking one writer every day and try to write an ode kind of poem about how their work has inspired or influenced me.

Fellow A to Z people, looking forward to loads of co-learning and fun.

Good Luck !

Love Song of a Broken Woman

Muses are not always
Greek goddesses
Stories often lack
mythical significance

The chaotic noises
in a troubled mind
And the hole in the chest
Carved where once
blood pumped feelings
Are a broken soul's tavern

Tired is the only
Universal feeling
Of making up, making out
Breaking in ,breaking out
Breakdown

Fallen in love
Icarus or Lucifer
Just a woman
In an eternal fall

Shards of careless words
Peel the remains of love
From a carcass called body
And then the master stroke
Silence - to drive the knife home

And twist it to the last.

To Ginsberg

“The weight of the world is love.
Under the burden of solitude,
under the burden of dissatisfaction
the weight, the weight we carry is love. ”
―     Allen Ginsberg
The destitute old man's
mumbo-jumbo
follows me around
his eyes
have some of my questions
Across cities, centuries , continents
loneliness has the same texture
I listen to Ginsberg
and following my inner moonlight
I show my madness
the world turns away
like dubbed cartoons
who speak a foreign language
merely mouths move
conversations are long dead
heads buried in smartphones
hearts buried even deeper
all of us
are yellow sunflowers inside
looking for a sun
the soul howls
at lighted cities
and the fountain of darkness
spilling over
threading colored beads
on a string
I think of Ginsberg, Kerouac
and Rumi
we the damned
unclassifiables !

To Ghalib

drowning
a lifetime into
this city's sunsets
and decades
of despair
to be a legend
I breathe
your angst

dead souls
masquerading
with fake smiles
lust wearing
love's cloak

words die
a silent death.

referendums
and regrets
life is worst
when it is
a pending decision.

Conversation

The blank page
blankly stares back
makes a face
mocks
- "so writer
no words any more
no more wisdom
sprouting
no more flames
burning."

the cursor blinks
the fan whirrs
I smile
and murmur
"Liar ,liar
dying for the
black touch of words
on your bland soul
I shall leave you
longing tonight."

This isn't a poem

Labels everywhere
on minds, souls and thoughts
and there is Eliot
on the shelf

today I can take
walk with him
on the streets of London
or anywhere

no longer afraid
of the asylum
that's where
the questioning ones end

the rest just comply
or shut down

the million-handed
octopi of thoughts
snatch words
from each other

and then
when the noise
reaches an unbearable crescendo

the words run helter-skelter
to meditate

you cringe or smile
there is no evidence
of any feeling ever

I look up
to find a face
to put up
for the other faces
I have to meet today.

Blogoversary week special- TWO

Today I know for sure that Robert Frost, one of my favourite poets was wrong when he said,"Time and Tide wait for no man, but time always stands still for a woman of thirty."
Yes I am sure about this because today I am no longer 30 ,I am 31.
The 30th birthday was sure a milestone of sorts. There was a new awareness of the meaning of time,as it was my first as a mom.
I started looking at the world differently but it was not as different as it seems today.I had just stepped into the thirties and so it took a while to sink in.Now that I am 31,it has set in with an indelible impression.
Some important things I have learnt in last one year:
LET IT GO !
LIFE IS LIKE A RIVER : A RIVER NEVER PASSES THE SAME PLACE TWICE.
SOME PAGES TURNED,SOME BRIDGES BURNED,BUT ALL ARE LESSONS LEARNED.
LIFE IS DIVINE CHAOS.

CURRENCY

Sentiment or language
or a bit of both

meaning or ambiguity
or a tug of both

conclusion versus confusions
the line is often blurred

This is who I am
This is what I do

my currency is poetry
what is yours?

Word Crutches

The chicken and egg riddle it is
I guess of the literary world

did word follow meaning
or meaning followed word

a thought without
the words to express
is it a valid thought

or a word without
a valid intention
is it really a word

this tough terrain of poetry
baffles my soul so much

there are no fixed directions
and words my only crutch !
