Nirvanas in a Red light District

“I'm not a body with a soul, I'm a soul that has a visible part called the body.”

― Paulo CoelhoEleven Minutes

Somewhere in a defamed street
behind the neon lights
 De Wallen- the walls
amidst eyes and bodies
I looked for souls
the wounds of the heart
that we try to patch
with moments
of flesh

Window displays
of bodies
and copulation
fantasy extended
beyond fanatasy
the voyeurs see mirrors

I see myself
clearly as a woman
and suddenly know
that the hands which
will hold me together
and the hands
that will grope
me violently
will often be the same

Life like a
LIVE sex show
pre-paid
no returns guaranteed
pleasure is subjective
Desire is a cigarette burning fast

Right there along with
the rosse buurt
in the Zeedijk
a Buddhist temple

incense & prayer flags
and brief Nirvanas
I felt best
scattered in a
red light district !

Bhagat Singh Paash

57 years apart
a rope and and a few bullets
presumed they
killed a revolution

a 23 years old
whose bride was freedom
a 37 years old
who was Anti-
everydayism

that date scattered
their free souls
in the cosmos
so that poetry thrives

and even if it is
that of a weed
ripping hard-parched land
revolution lives on !

May all the blog odds be in your favor ! #AtoZ #ThemeReveal

I did my first A to Z fighting one of my worst battles with depression in 2015, and continued successfully for 2016 and 2017.

You can have a glimpse at my previous three successfully completed A to Z challenges here:

This FOURTH CONSECUTIVE year stepping away from my core form of POETRY I will try to surprise my readers with 100 words long FLASH FICTION.

So I have set a sort of challenge within a challenge for myself.

I have been on social media including blogging for almost a decade now, appropriate time to look back, so the THEME is again LIFE LESSONS but this time LIFE LESSONS FROM SOCIAL MEDIA.

Looking forward to meaningful co-learning !

Do hop over to the AtoZ blog for more about THEME REVEAL.

This year BLOGCHATTER is championing its independent of international challenge too, do hop over to their site for more details as well.

Keep blogging ! May all the blog odds be in your favor !

Wound

he examines the burn
only the visible
severity of a pain

gentle dressing
is not life's choice
for me

with a scalpel
without anesthesia
life opens
the wounds

and forgets
the sutures later on !

Candy Shop

standing outside
life's candy shop
I count my pennies

the shiny price tags
all beyond me
peace, love, success
in their shiny jars

like nasty kids
sticking out their tongues
they silently smirk and
say L-O-S-E-R

I can't surely afford
what I want
and would never want
what my pennies can buy

so I turn around
and throw the pennies
above my head
making a wish

that some other kid
might pick them up
and have her dream
fulfilled !

the last time...

Do you remember the last time....

  • you were a child and sat in a parent's lap
  • you believed in superheroes and magic
  • you hid a candy to have it later
  • you looked in the mirror and cried
  • you put a coin in a piggy bank
  • you held a deceased parent's shriveled hand
  • you put your tired head on a friend's shoulder
  • you felt the warmth of a loved one next to you
  • you saw someone smile and it melted your heart
  • you saw a sunset and it didn't make you sad
  • you read an obituary and said a prayer
  • you saw a couple in love and smiled
  • you brushed your fingertips on a baby's cheek
  • you let a cup of tea get cold waiting for someone
the beauty and cruelty
of every last time is
that you don't know it's the last

the last time !
