Layogenic #NewNormal #A2Z

Layogenic

(Tagalog)

The experience of seeing something that looks good far away but really bad close up.

It looked like a vacation first

time to pause

to slow down

to look around

and then it got stagnant

so still that it began to stink

the robotic routine

the monotonous din

what looked like a freedom

was a prison within.

  1. Sadly describes the state we are in accurately, doesn't it? At first there really was a sense of happiness for many about getting a break from the hectic work schedule... And then, it just became work from home forever

  2. How apt!! When it started, it did fill our hearts with excitement but then gradually it became a mundane routine. Hope the world returns to its "original normal" soon.

  3. So true! From taking a break to doubling up work, it didn't take long for the new normal to suffocate people.

  4. Sounds very much like our pandemic time — at least for some. For others it has been a flowering of creativity. Challenges are often what you make of them. https://mollyscanopy.com/2021/04/line-dancing-and-long-distance-friendships-atozchallenge/

  5. Yes it has become a long term challenge now

  6. Even real vacations can get boring after a few days and you kind of want to get back to the busy but comforting familiar routine. Leave alone the current situation !

  7. That's a great word, and sadly applies to most of my art... but at least some of it looks good from further away!
Thanks for commenting on my Guest post today at the A to Z website.

  8. That there is a word to describe this phenomenon is a wonder.
That you found it and used it so well is beyond wonderment. Very cool indeed.

  9. What an interesting word! Thank you for sharing that. I am sure we have all had this experience.

  10. This resonates what we are feeling right now. Caged and lifeless. I wish we come out of it soon.

  11. Yes lets hope we are out of this soon

  12. Well good to know there is a word for that long expression. Maybe photogenic originally meant something that looked good only in photo?
