Retrouvailles
Pronunciation (ruh-troov-eye) (French)
The happiness of meeting again after a long time
Oh how I miss
holding a hand
skin on skin
the warmth of another beating heart
next to mine
these were regular
normal things
and now
it is a desire
a privilege
a longing....
a hope.....

My thoughts exactly. Strange you wrote this for R, I wrote it for N as in New NOrmal. I just hate that word which makes everything seem 'normal' when it is not.Take care and letshope this second wave dies out soon
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing isn't it
DeleteHow true this is! New normal is just not good. :(
ReplyDeleteyes that's true
DeleteLovely poem & a beautiful word.
ReplyDeleteOf course retro is a very common word. Retrouvailles - reviving the old? It was a new word for me to learn. Problem is French origin words are difficult to spell and pronounce.
ReplyDeleteThank you
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous choice for R. I do hope for more retrouvailles with friends and family once things are better.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a hearty hug makes a world of difference.
ReplyDeleteI miss hugs, I miss the old normal ! Sigh ...
ReplyDeleteI've never been a hugger but after this last year, I think I'll hug a lot more folks! I learned a new word today -- thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written...can feel those emotions
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, yes! I miss hugs and closeness -- and swing dancing with partners. But best we keep safe until it is time to reconnect again. https://mollyscanopy.com/2021/04/rock-n-roll-djs-my-brief-crush-on-jack-rose/
